RTE 3.6 Beta Now Available With Full Support for All Devices
RTE 3.6 Beta with upgraded capabilities was released at the end of July, providing full support for all existing and new devices. This version of RTE offers administrators enhanced performance; RSA 2048 support (for Siemens Card OS 4.20-based devices); Siemens Card OS 4.20 devices support; eToken NG-OTP support (USB-based capabilities); and is Entrust 7 ready. With the General Availability release, it will also include support for localization capabilities and web-based enrollment.

Aladdin 2004 PKI Survey Results Now Available
The annual PKI Survey results are now officially out: more than 50 percent of the global
companies surveyed have already implemented or planning to implement a PKI.
Of these, more than 65 percent are evaluating USB tokens or traditional smartcards
to enhance their PKI security.

Aladdin Granted Two Key U.S. Patents for Utilizing USB-Based Portable Devices
On August 25th Aladdin announced it was granted patent US 6,763,399, covering portable devices or tokens featuring an on-board smartcard chip that communicates with a host through a USB port. To read the press release,

On September 7, Aladdin announced it had been granted a patent, US 6,748,541. Granted on June 8th, 2004, the patent covers a method of using a portable device that plugs into a computer system (USB/ Serial/ PS2, etc) in order to store unique personal information or credentials in general, which can than be used for authenticating to a network or application.
